LEKI becomes the Official Trekking Pole of the GORE-TEX™ TransRockies Run

LEKI USATransRockies US LP is proud to announce that LEKI USA has become an official supplier of Trekking Poles to the 2009 GORE-TEX™ TransRockies Run.

LEKI chose the TransRockies Run as an ideal platform to showcase the benefits of trail-running with poles. “We know that running with our trekking poles significantly reduces stress on your joints,” said Lindy Spiezer, Marketing Director of LEKI USA. “An event like the TransRockies Run really demonstrates that difference over 6 days and 113 miles.”

Running with Poles“We’ve noticed that many of our participants prefer to run with poles,” said Event Director, Aaron McConnell. “Staying injury free is an important strategy in this event, and poles can help runners achieve this goal.” When TransRockies went looking for a pole partner, LEKI was the natural choice, being the market leader in trekking poles. LEKI is also an official supplier to the GORE-TEX™ Transalpine-Run in Europe.

LEKI USA will supply 30 pairs of its Trekking Poles which will be awarded as prizes to the 3 teams in each category for one stage of the 2009 event.

The GORE-TEX™ TransRockies Run is a 6-Day Trail Running Stage Race in the Colorado Rockies. Launched in 2007, this year’s event will run from Buena Vista, Colorado to Beaver Creek Colorado, covering a distance of approximately 113 miles on trails and dirt road at elevations between 7,000 and 12,600 feet. Runners compete in teams of two and camp overnight in tents provided by the organization. Meals, hot showers, and athletic therapy are also provided. Stage winners and overall leaders are recognized at a daily awards ceremony.

LEKI USA, Inc. located in Buffalo, NY was incorporated in 1990. The North American market has embraced the company’s line of Alpine, Back Country, Mountaineering, Trekking, and Nordic Walking Poles.
